Thanks for looking, we are SECOND HAND HOROLOGY!

"Vintage Omega watches are very highly regarded for their quality, particulary their movements which are outstanding."

Omega Seamaster Cosmic 2000

A true blast from the past, this iconic Omega Seamaster Cosmic 2000 is running strong and looking for a new home - on your wrist!  We presume that this is a reference ST 366.0826 Based on information from the vintage section of Omega’s website.  Normally, we would verify such things, but the Cosmic 2000 has a modular case that requires a very special tool to open it, and we do not have it, nor do any of our watchmaker friends.  Having said that, this watch does not appear to be in need of a service.  The timegrapher shows the watch running at an average of -67 seconds a day with a VERY strong amplitude of 262 degrees, which for a 50-year-old watch with an unknown service history, is very respectable in our opinion.

Inside the beautiful modular case resides a very cool dial with raised indices, day and date indicators, and a nice warm patina that is very handsome and ads to the vintage vibe.  The hands appear to be aligned nearly perfectly, and they are straight.

Under the dial, you have the heart and soul of this magnificent watch, the Automatic Omega Caliber 1022, a 23-jewel high-beat movement operating at 28,800 A/H. A unique aspect of this movement is that the automatic gear is integrated into the movement, instead of attaching it to a manual-wind caliber as usual. Together with indirectly driven minute and second this leaves in the center space for a rugged rotor bearing, despite the low profile.  This movement was introduced in 1972 and was produced until 1984.  The movement has a hack feature, sweep second, quickset date, and quick set day by moving the hour hand backwards past 9, then forward to roughly 12:30.

The integrated bracelet is in very good condition, except for one of the end pieces has a slight bend.  This does not affect wearability or safety, and can be seen in the photos.  The clasp and individual links appear to be unpolished and very clean.  Bracelet will accommodate up to a 7.125” wrist.

The case back also appears to be either unpolished, or very lightly polished, as the iconic Seamaster logo is VERY crisp and legible.  The crown appears to be the original.

The watch is coming in a period correct box.  I cannot say for sure whether this is the original box or not, as I did not purchase it new.  It is however, a very nice and clean presentation box and you would definitely not be embarrassed to show it or gift it to someone.

All in all, this is one handsome vintage Omega, and unlike many watches from the 1970s, wont make you feel like you need to wear it with a leisure suit.  It’s a great combination of vintage looks combined with omega class and elegance.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to send a message!  We look forward to hearing from you.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men's watches typically measure between 29-36mm (some larger, some smaller) wide excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women's watches from the 1900s-1970s were also somewhat smaller than today’s offerings in many cases. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.

We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust light, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.

The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended.
See all the photos, feel free to ask questions if you have any.

It will be carefully packed.
