WELSBRO WATCH Co. – Founded in 1926 as the Weissman Watch Company by a family business on W. 47th Street in New York City. The Weissman Watch Co. operated as an assembleur, they imported Swiss watch parts and assembled the watches in the States. In the 1930s, they began branding the watches under the name "Welsbro."
 
Legend has it that the original name was actually “Weisbro” (for “Weissman” plus “Brothers”). But the name "WEISBRO" was often misread on the watch dial as "WELSBRO.” According to lore, the name “Welsbro” just stuck.
 
Despite being much smaller than other American watch companies, Welsbro advertised and sold nationwide. They cranked out a huge range of mechanical watches from the 1930s to the 1970s.
 
In the 1960s and 1970s, Welsbro made various divers and sportier models. It's also during this time that Welsbro experimented with various logo marks. - including the "roof" logo which you see today.

As we see today, this double marked by Welsbro Watch Co. and the dial signed Surfking is a vintage diver wristwatch made by Welsbros and dated from the early 1970s.
 
It is a manual wind watch, powered by a Swiss-made Welsbro Watch Co. movement, caliber EB 8810, 1 jewel, sweep second, date indicator, unadjusted, 36 hours power reserve and 18,000 A/h.
 
Still the original black dial with luminous hour marks, minute track and silver/luminous matching hands. The date window is located at 3 o’clock. The dial is also signed Surfking and Antimagnetic.
 
Cased in a 36.7mm round case, stainless steel back. Black and silver bidirectional rotating bezel which allows divers to keep track of elapsed time and the watch features 5ATM waterproof tested.
 
It comes with a vintage stainless-steel mesh basketweave two-piece bracelet.

This watch is a perfect collector's item, it is in good condition! Runs very well, keeps good time!

We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
